In this episode of Best. Album. Ever. Ben sits down with good friend and fellow Overthink host, Nick Gates to talk about his contendor for Best. Album. Ever.: In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 by Coheed and Cambria.
After some intro stuff, we get into Nick's criteria for whittling down his list of albums around 2:30, then how he finally landed on In Keeping Secrets at 7:30. We catch you up on The Amory Wars at 23:00 in, then FINALLY go through the track list around 26:45, and one final question at 63:30. Whew. Enjoy!

Today Ben talks with good friend and cohost of Overthink Podcast Network's sister show, West Coast Bias, Brent Peterson to chat about his contender for Best. Album. Ever: Kendrick Lamar's "To Pimp A Butterfly". 
They spend some time on the big picture of the album and the overall flow and influences around it, then at about 18min in they get into Brent's personal journey of discovery and appreciation of the album before diving into the tracklist at 21min. From there on out it's a track-by-track breakdown of the record.

They start off talking about some of the history of Lupe Fiasco, as well as where this album fits into his discography, and how Danny came to be such a big fan of his. Then at around 23min in they get into Lupe's perspective on the album and making of the album, before talking about other conscious rappers and runner ups Danny was contemplating at 28min, and then finish things with a discussion of where Lupe lines up all time at 32 min.

After some catching up, they get into the album at around the 4min mark, then get into what Andrew says are his favorite and the best songs on the album at 13min in. At around 20min they get into the mix and the musicians involved and Ben talks about his favorite song at the 22min mark. Then they end things talking about how artists arrange their songs on their albums and why it matters at 25min in, and what else Andrew's up to and where you can find him at 37min.

Today's show is the pilot episode of Best. Album. Ever. hosted by Ben Helms. Todays' guest: Corrigan Vaughan. Her album: Phantoms by Acceptance. They get into the nitty gritty of why she ended up choosing this album as the best album (13:40) before getting into her favorite song (or "best" song) on the album (19:50). Then they get into the historical significance of the album (21:50) and analyze the lyrical stylings of singer/songwriter Jason Vena (23:55). Then Ben breaks out his convoluted theory that ties the entire album together (28:00). After that they talk about how artists arrange their albums overall (34:00), as well as the ability to appreciate art for different reasons (40:15).
